Just answering some quick questions regarding this term!

1. Tell me about something you learned about another culture this term that really surprised or intrigued you.

I was actually surprised to hear how instruments all traveled across the world and developed in their own way, like how the oud eventually developed into a guitar, and how every culture had similar flutes and drums. I didn't often thing about these things and it's awesome to find similarities.

2. Tell me about something that you realized about your own culture through our discussions.

Western music is everywhere! Or, at least, many cultures borrow from it to blend with their own music. I already knew this to some degree, but I didn't realize quite how much it happened.

3. Tell me about couple of things you really liked about this class, and a couple of things you wish could have been different.

There wasn't much to dislike; I loved the class as a whole! I do wish we had been able to study Japan as a class, if only because I am highly biased and I love Japanese culture. It was still wonderful to get into the cultures that we did; everything seemed well-balanced, given the amount of information we had to cover.

4. Tell me about something that this course has inspired you to learn more about.

Honestly everything! I've definitely expanded my musical tastes and would love to hear music from more countries than those we studied.
